The Samberg Family Foundation

Grantmaking Process

The Foundation does not currently accept unsolicited proposals. Foundation staff and directors work continuously to identify potential grant applicants through due diligence procedures. The Foundation will request proposals from a limited number of organizations based upon annual assessment of Foundation priorites and family interests.

The Foundation actively seeks out innovative approaches with a proven track record of success, strong leadership, and potential for scale in the following programmatic areas:

Children, Youth, and Education. The Foundation supports initiatives that help children and youth from low-income backgrounds realize their full academic and personal potential, in and outside of school. Primary areas of interest include early literacy, youth development, college access, and programs providing comprehensive services.

Health. The Foundation supports health promotion and preventative care initiatives targeted to children, youth, and families living in low-income communities.

Jewish Giving. Fundamental Jewish values inform all of the Foundation’s giving. The Foundation also supports individual programs and projects of Jewish history, culture and life.

The Foundation provides grants to eligible nonprofit organizations throughout the United States. Initiatives serving the metropolitan areas of New York City are of primary interest. The Foundation understands the many benefits for non-profit organizations of multi-year funding, and since 2002 the majority of our grants have been multi-year.
